Looks like a old flat iron that was heated on kitchen stoves to do the ironing

While I am not as old at the coal heated pressing iron, I have used one. It also doubled as a door stop when not in use as an iron. Hot embers were placed inside to produce the heat for ironing clothes. Freshly ironed clothes feel very good on cold winter mornings.

This contraption I believe is an iron. The top comes off for you to deposit hot coals into.

It is a flat iron . You add hot coals to supply the heat and is very handy when you don’t have electricity!

Wow! What participation! Today I was having lunch at Bob Evans in Ft. Wayne when my cell phone started jingling. It was the best responce from a true codger.
Mr. Kenny Graybill Sr. (91 yrs young) called and told me exactly what this contraption is. He went on to say that he didn’t have a computer, but his girlfriend did. He’s heading to Florida to stay with his girlfriend the rest of the winter. Good for you Kenny, and thanks a bundle for the call.
Now that is what the back page of The-EZ-Shopper is all about!
